Scott has worked in the criminal jurisdiction since 1988 and was called to the bar in 1997. Initially Scott held chambers in Toowoomba where he maintained a general practice including criminal, industrial, family, succession and family maintenance claims, personal injury advice and proceedings as well as administrative reviews and commercial disputes.

In 2002 Scott moved his practice to Brisbane, however he continues to receive briefs from regional practitioners and appears regularly in central and northern Queensland. He now predominantly practices in criminal law and has been involved in many high-profile murder cases.

Over the years Scott has assisted in the Bar Practice Course, however more recently, he now presents papers at various law conferences held throughout the year.
